Investigators worked Friday to determine the cause of a fire that charred about 10 acres of brush near Jamul and briefly threatened some area homes.

The so-called Lyons Fire erupted for unknown reasons off the 3000 block of Lyons Creek Road in the Lawson Valley area late Thursday morning, and was 80 percent contained as of this morning, according to Cal Fire.

No structural damage or injuries were reported.

The spreading of a brush fire near Jamul Thursday was halted within 90 minutes, after burning about 10 acres of backcountry terrain, authorities said.

The fire threatened some homes near Skyline Truck Trail, but caused no immediate structural damage or injuries, authorities said.

Multiple crews fought the fire from the air and the ground.

The blaze erupted for unknown reasons off the 3000 block of Lyons Creek Road in the Lawson Valley area about 11:30 a.m., according to Cal Fire.
