There are so many arts events going on that this weekend, we're breaking it down according to mood.
If you're feeling adventurous
Trolley Dances 2016: Site-specific dances will be performed along the San Diego Trolley's Blue Line. This year's choreographers include Jean Isaacs, Monica Bill Barnes, Bill Shannon, Jess Humphrey and Zaquia Mahler-Salina.

San Diego Maker Faire: Part science fair, part festival of invention, this event attracts everyone from inventors and crafters to artists and engineers.

If you feel like dancing
CRSSD Festival: An electronic music festival that highlights cutting edge and experimental acts. Expect mellow vibes and lots of beautiful Instagram photos. This year's lineup includes Miike Snow, Zhu, Thomas Jack, Trippy Turtle, Malaa and more.

If you feel like having a laugh

Paula Poundstone: Poundstone, a favorite on NPR's "Wait Wait . . . Don't Tell Me!" is known for her quick, unscripted comedy. She'll take on politics, pop culture and more at this performance.

Bob Saget: Saget may be a popular TV star, specializing in family-friendly comedy. But as a standup he's biting, edgy, and sometimes offensive. Mature audiences only.

If you want to try something new
Fresh Sound Series Presents Ingrid Laubrock And Tom Rainey: Fresh Sound is a series that highlights experimental, electronic, contemporary classical and improvised music. This weekend it features saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock and drummer Tom Rainey celebrating the release of a new album.
Details: 7:30 p.m. Friday. Bread & Salt Art Gallery, 1955 Julian Ave., Barrio Logan. $10 to $15 tickets available at the door.
"Blood at the Root": SDSU stages this contemporary piece that weaves poetry and hip hop to tell the story of a small Louisiana town where racial tensions escalate among rival football team members.
Details: 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. 2 p.m. Sunday. Continues through Oct. 9. Experimental Theatre, SDSU. $15 to $17; find tickets.
If you feel like traveling
The Shanghai Acrobats of The People's Republic: Founded in 1959, this troupe has become one of the most influential and competitive acrobatic companies in China. Expect jugglers, hoop diving, balancing and much more.

"Tiger Style" at La Jolla Playhouse: It's your last chance to see this play about over-achieving Asian-American siblings who embrace their inner slacker and travel to China.
I will be moderating the Discovery Sunday discussion, exploring "The Myth of the Model Minority" with SDSU's Li-Rong Lilly Cheng, Pacific Arts Movement's Brian Hu and Kiyon Chung of Scripps Mercy Hospital.
The talk begins immediately after the 2 p.m. Sunday performance. You can attend for free (without seeing the play) if you arrive at the theater lobby by 3:30 p.m.
