Still no word on who will replace Maestro Jahja Ling

The San Diego Symphony opens its 2017/2018 season with esteemed guest conductor Edo de Waart, and continues with eight more guest conductors throughout the year.

But there is still no word on who will replace Maestro Jahja Ling, who leaves the San Diego Symphony as conductor and music director in May. That announcement is planned for later in 2017.

In the meantime, the new season welcomes 14 artists making their San Diego Symphony debuts, a January festival that will focus on percussion, another "Harry Potter" film screening and a children's Tchaikovsky program.
