The San Diego Symphony opens its 2017/2018 season with esteemed guest conductor Edo de Waart, and continues with eight more guest conductors throughout the year.

But there is still no word on who will replace Maestro Jahja Ling, who leaves the San Diego Symphony as conductor and music director in May. That announcement is planned for later in 2017.

In the meantime, the new season welcomes 14 artists making their San Diego Symphony debuts, a January festival that will focus on percussion, another "Harry Potter" film screening and a children's Tchaikovsky program.

There will also be 14 classical works performed for the first time by the San Diego Symphony including Samuel Barber's Music for a Scene from Shelley; Leonard Bernstein's Symphony No. 1: Jeremiah; Claude Debussy's Iberia and Jeux; Wynton Marsalis' Violin Concerto; Adam Schoenberg's Violin Concerto (world premiere); Tor Takemitsu's From Me Flows What You Call Time; and Tchaikovsky's Sérénade mélancolique among others.

You can see the complete lineup and purchase tickets for the Jacobs Masterworks 2017/2018 season here.
