TV and film stars Donald Faison, Hal Linden and Justin Long are headed to San Diego as part of the cast of The Old Globe's "Picasso at the Lapin Agile."
Written by Steve Martin, the popular play is about a night at Paris' Lapin Agile bar where Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein discuss everything from love and art to science and inspiration.
Justin Long, known for his roles on TV's "Ed" and in movies like "He's Just Not That Into You" is set to play Albert Einstein; Picasso's role will be played by classically-trained actor Philippe Bowgen.
The cast also includes Donald Faison ("Scrubs," "Clueless") as Freddy the bar owner; Liza Lapira ("Dollhouse," "Dexter") as Picasso admirer Suzanne; Tony and Emmy Award-winner Hal Linden ("Barney Miller") as bar patron Gaston; and Luna Vélez (“How to Get Away with Murder” Broadway’s "Into the Woods") as waitress Germaine.
Kevin Hafso-Koppman, Ron Orbach and Marcel Spears round out the cast of the play that's set to run Feb. 4 through March 12, 2017. Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein will direct.
This is the Globe's third Martin work in three seasons. In 2014 the theater premiered his musical "Bright Star," which went on to Broadway and earned five Tony Award nominations. Last year, the Balboa Park theater staged the world premiere of Martin's comedy "Meteor Shower."
