San Diego Educator Named California Teacher Of The Year

Jaime Brown, an English and film studies teacher at San Diego High School School of International Studies was selected as one of five educators honored with the California Teacher of the Year award.

Brown, who was named last month as a San Diego County Teacher of the Year, has been teaching at the San Diego High School complex for 15 years. She is also an alumna of the school

Brown descends from a long line of educators. Her parents taught English in Japan before she was born and three of her aunts are educators. Brown also recently discovered her great grandmother was also a teacher.

Brown shares her experience in the classroom Thursday on KPBS Midday Edition.
