According to one estimate, more than 44 million Americans have a side hustle. For some, that second job is more than another stream of income.

But for people considering a side hustle, figuring out what to do and then keeping it going without burning out, can be a job in itself.

New York Times bestselling author Chris Guillebeau wrote a book describing how he built a career off of side hustles. It is called, "Side Hustle: From Idea to Income in 27 Days." He is also the host of the podcast, "Side Hustle School."

Guillebeau will be speaking about his book Thursday at Warwick's Books in La Jolla. He joined Midday Edition Wednesday to talk about building a successful side hustle.
