On Monday there was a little less laughter in the world. Actor and comedian Robin Williams was pronounced dead at 12:02 p.m. on Aug. 11 and Tuesday, the Marin County Sheriff revealed Williams had died of hanging and suicide is suspected.

Actor Robin Williams, who died Monday at age 63 of an apparent suicide, had visited both Afghanistan and Iraq in 2010 as part of a USO tour to bring entertainment to the troops during the holidays. But it was his visit to Kuwait in 2007, and how his military audience reacted during the retreat ceremony, that may have been the most memorable.

The judges from the TV talent competition "America's Got Talent" voted unanimously on Wednesday night to send 21-year-old Army Pfc. Paul Ieti to Radio City Music Hall for the show's finals. Ieti, an active-duty soldier, recently returned from a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.

James Scott Bumgarner, a.k.a. James Garner, served in the Merchant Marines, the Oklahoma National Guard, and the U.S. Army. Garner was injured in the Korean War and twice awarded the Purple Heart before being discharged in 1952.

Active-duty soldier Pfc. Paul Ieti, 21, recently completed a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan. While in the war-ravaged country, he used music to soothe his soul and entertain his fellow soldiers. His incredible singing voice landed him an audition on "America's Got Talent," and his performance on the show this week earned him a standing ovation and a spot in the final competition.
