Japanese Friendship Garden San Diego

The Japanese Friendship Garden is an expression of friendship between San Diego and its sister city Yokohama that binds the two cultures to create a unique experience for visitors from all over the world.

Representing a new concept in the development of a Japanese garden outside of Japan, the Japanese Friendship Garden is well-known for its unique setting, stone arrangement, Koi pond, exhibit house and ornamental tree collection.

As a valued asset to Balboa Park, the Japanese Friendship Garden of San Diego is also an educational resource to the community, providing a variety of seminars, classes and workshops as well as accredited horticultural classes. The Japanese Friendship Garden of San Diego is proud to present a remarkable collection of Japanese artifacts, a Bonsai exhibit with circulating exhibitions by Bonsai Masters and many more valuable living collections.

Lead The Way 2017: Celebrating Outdoor Leadership

  • Thursday, September 28, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Outdoor Outreach's 2017 Lead the Way event will recognize community leaders in San Diego and beyond who are helping improve access to green space areas for urban and diverse youth. Youth leaders will share how outdoor activities provided by local nonprofit Outdoor Outreach have helped them overcome hardships, and become role models within their community.
