We should support the development of a new stadium in either the 10th Ave terminal or the current location of the tailgate park in East Village.
Regardless of the location, a new stadium is critical for retaining our largest professional sports franchise as well as an opportunity to generate further city general fund revenues and continue building on the civic pride created by our new Downtown Central Library
There are 3 key factors to maintain in the location choice and design of such a complex:- Scalable, must be able to pass the 75,000 seat minimum for a super bowl as well as posses the amenities needed to host bowl games and even Final Four basketball, or International Soccer championships- Integrated, as an extension of the convention center and an extension of Downtown's public realm. This includes connections to public transit, convention center space, event space, and public parks throughout. THINK BIG- Profitable, by building out the exterior perimeter and shell of the stadium with commercial and even dense residential space the cost to build the stadium will be off set to some degree, while also invigorating the adjacent area so it doesn't stand dormant 357 days a year
