Three Cups of Tea is the true story of an American who finds himself moved to build schools in the remote mountain villages of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Greg Mortenson founded the Central Asia Institute to promote peace in the region by providing community-based education for young girls. KPBS proudly presents a series of videos featuring Greg Mortenson and co-author David Oliver Relin. They explain the backstory, the social changes that occur when girls are educated in these communities, how education becomes a tool for peace, and share words of inspiration: "Often I think when we go on any type of endeavor, we often dream big or think big. But I think it's important to just take one step forward, to start with a penny or a seed or an idea or one child. And also, I think it's important that we listen to our heart or intuition." -- Greg Mortenson Three Cups of Tea is a featured selection of One Book, One San Diego, a community reading initiative. |
