Managers Continue To Leave North County Transit District, Severance Adds Up

Unbelievable. NCTD and its Board members continue to stonewall, refusing to be accountable. Just a year ago, the Sprinter was shut down for months, costing the taxpayers millions of dollars!

There is obviously a boatload of problems at NCTD, and the Board can't even be bothered to comment! Too lazy, too clueless, or both?

It's very hard to believe that Board member John Aguilera of Vista just passed along this issue to CEO Matt Tucker. Is this Aguilera's idea of providing oversight, and being accountable to the public?

If the Board doesn't wake up to their responsibilities, maybe this agency should just be broken up. San Diego MTS hasn't had the ridiculous number of problems that NCTD has. Why should NCTD even exist?

It may be time to throw out this do-nothing Board and its out-of-control CEO.

Emails Show NCTD Changed Paperwork After Info Request

The last paragraph of this article is shocking. NCTD plans to spend $213,000 on a consulting report, and will keep the entire report confidential as attorney work product? This arrogance shows total contempt for public accountability and transparency. Has the NCTD Board forgotten that they are accountable to the voters, and not to Mr. Tucker? Maybe all of the Board members should resign, and give their jobs to replacements who will actually provide public oversight over this out-of-control agency.

North County Transit District Sued To Release Records

Sure looks like NCTD has a policy to conceal records from the public. A few months ago in July 2013, NCTD changed its email retention period from 2 years to just 60 days, as reported in this story link below.

Per the story, NCTD received 55 emails in opposition to the policy. But NCTD Board members Ed Gallo and Bill Horn insulted the public's input, saying "Well, they have to show up."

The reporter also discovered that NCTD had previously spent $12,000 in taxpayer money on an email archiving system, specifically to archive the emails:

What is NCTD hiding?

"War On Women Over 40": Lawsuit Claims Age, Gender Bias At NCTD

I can understand the concerns expressed by the employee above. It's not an employee's fault if they were hired by a scoundrel.

But the article doesn't even suggest that the younger women aren't qualified for their positions. The clear focus of the article is that the older women were probably just as qualified for their positions. And two separate lawsuits have alleged that the actions taken against older women were not legitimate. That sounds like discrimination, and even the younger employees should support efforts to expose discrimination at NCTD.

I noticed a comment on the inewsource version of this article. "What Tucker did was even worse than what Filner did: Women, many of whom probably had dependents, lost their livelihoods for the most corrupt of reasons." Well said.

"War On Women Over 40": Lawsuit Claims Age, Gender Bias At NCTD

Muckapoo1, you probably aren't aware that the bus drivers don't work for NCTD. The bus drivers work for a private contractor called First Transit. If Tucker worked for First Transit, he would have been held accountable long ago.

JeanMarc, your comment is either a poorly worded joke, or you are part of the problem.

The pictures do show that Tucker has a "type," doesn't he? After Tucker is eventually fired, maybe he and Bob Filner should spend all their time on
