Sarcasm aside, while the sales tax break for online retail isn't the only factor, it's one that needs to be taken seriously. We can't keep giving that advantage to online retail and not expect retail storefronts of every kind to start trickling away.

The Gospel Of High-Speed Rail Still Has Many Doubters
Important point to add: all transportation is subsidized. If high speed rail even comes close to paying for itself, it'll be a bargain.
