I agree with your examples of trite horror fare, with the exception of The Skeleton Key. I thought that was a great movie - moody, atmospheric and spooky (you just can't go wrong with Louisiana and voodoo - excuse me, hoodoo). It had some great acting from a couple of veterans and yes, even Kate Hudson, and it wrapped up with a surprising twist ending that didn't seem forced and actually made perfect sense. So, remove Skeleton Key and replace it with that dreadful PG-13 Prom Night from a few years back and I'm 100% with you. :)
