Exactly what am I unable to answer? Californian culture has already been covered.
The Cortes card was a joke about exactly THIS. Another one of your trips down a pointless off-topic road.
You're avoiding the debate about Filner's politically motivated joint bid with Tijuana. That is the article. That is the conversation. You keep turning it away.
But your last comment did make me laugh. Please, mission use that MIRROR!
I was shocked about Penny for the Arts too. Once again, this is clear evidence that San Diego has a spending problem not a revenue problem.
Mmikey,
Actually, I just heard an interview on KPBS last night about drug dealers who are moving out of California because medical marijuana is cutting into their profits. The drug dealer interviewed said he quadrupled his income by moving to New York (where all usage, even medical, is still illegal).
Very well said. I'm interested to see Mission's response to your post.
Interesting that Tom Wong of UCSD is spending public dollars to lobby congressmen rather than teaching students.
Also, I'm quite dismayed by Wong's racial nepotism. He suggests that only whites are opposed to the amnesty bill and that it is largely a conflict of racial ideology.
Actually, it is about economics, democracy, and the rule of law. If the pro-amnesty side wins, we all lose.
o End Qualcomm subsidy. No brainer... Save 17 million o Stop Convention Center subsidy. Clearly... Save 3 million o Cut council staff (and Mayoral???). Especially mayoral... Save 5 million o Shut down golf courses. A hole in one... Save 3 million o Cut Penny for the Arts. Penny for the Taxpayer... Save 9 million (wow!)
$37 million in CUTS!
o Fund Assessment of Facilities. A good first step...Cost 2 o End Infrastructure Bond Delay. Filner is not a god... Cost 5 million o Save SDGE Settlement. Four our future...Cost (save, actually) 13million o Increase police equipment. Protect our protectors...Cost 1 million o Increase police staffing. Safety first... Cost 11 million
$32 million in new expenses.
$5 million under budget AND $13 million put into reserves.
Thanks for the off-topic psychoanalysis. Now hold your screen up to a mirror, read your post backwards and you should have an epiphany.
When you're done, you'll also understand the meaning of Californian culture. No wait, that happens when you interact with Californians. You should try it more often and in a less confrontational manner.
Sadly, I don't think Hunter was joking when he said that to the SD East County Chamber of Commerce in 2009.
Even if he was joking, the comment is still idiotic. Seriously East County, he's not improving your reputation of being dimwitted yokels. Replace him.
But Obama and the Democrats aren't any better. Do you think they really want to fix climate change or do they simply want to profit from it (and get votes)?
"...the immigration reform bill would grant legal status to millions of people in the country illegally without correcting flaws in the current system."

Since Border Patrol agents are opposed to the immigration bill (they weren't even consulted), it suggests the bill is more about politics and less about reform.
The bill should be stopped and the process started over with open and thorough consultation with the Border Patrol.
Olympic Rules May Disallow San Diego-Tijuana Bid

Revised Stolen Valor Act Awaits Obama's Signature
How does rewriting the Stolen Valor Act to include "benefiting financially" make it less of a violation of the freedom of speech?
Is it a federal crime to claim you have a college degree when you don't?
Is it a federal crime to claim you're a renowned artist, when you're not so renowned?
Is it a federal crime to claim you're 42 when you're really 52?
The Stolen Valor Act should be struck down as unconstitutional (again).

Big Night For Labor With Cole, Gonzalez Wins On City Council, State Assembly
Cole is backed by Filner, union bosses, and party bosses.
Crenshaw is backed by environmental groups, teachers, and the other candidates.
The establishment vs. the regular joe.
I wonder who the people will choose. The big boss or someone more like them?
Same story for Gonzalez (who is the big union boss) and regular joe Castaneda.
