Poll Shows Kevin Faulconer Is Front Runner In San Diego Mayoral Race

One of Kevin Falconer's neighbors in Point Loma told me that he is "more of a politician than a human being." That's not a ringing endorsement from someone who knows him well. Faulconer is getting his support from the wealthy Republican business community. Take a look at what he has done for the regular Joe, little guy, average citizen while in power on City Council. Not much.

Fletcher served our country and he has the backing of the Qualcomm Jacobs Family who have been very generous and gracious in the community.

Alvarez is genuine and wants to help the overlooked and underserved communities that are suffering. It's not clear if he has the experience to lead the entire City.

Fletcher looks like the most reasonable and experienced of the bunch, with down the middle values.

Council Votes To Accept San Diego Mayor Bob Filner's Resignation

He had a chance to resolve this before it hit the fan when these two lawyers and Frye went to address it with him. He was arrogant and decided to allow them to do their presser and get the ball rolling. He created this by his behavior and then by being in denial as one after another came forward. The standards and education level in San Diego is low enough, we don't need an abusive, self absorbed man to be our mayor. He could have avoided the national circus. He must have liked or wanted the attention in some way.

Filner Mediation Results In Deal; Council Votes Friday

The man is obviously emotionally flawed. All of City Council and most state and national democratic leaders have called for his resignation. A deal has been made to get him to move on. This is garden variety transactional settlement politics for a bad apple. Appears to be more behavior based than political party based. Good for the City and its citizens who need basic services to move on. There will be plenty of politics in the upcoming election over the next 90 days. Hopefully we can switch from grabbling butts and breasts to funding our crumbling infrastructure. Good luck San Diego in raising the substance of the public conversation. I hear that the first debate among the new candidates will be hosted at Hooters.

Filner Defiant As Details Of Alleged Sexual Harassment Emerge

Donna Frye lost plenty of credibility with her hysterics yesterday. The two lawyers were unknown my most before they did their news conference and the one without the tie was a bit unprofessional and domineering. If they have credible people with credible claims, they should bring them and work through the process. Let the mayor get back to work with his new team running the City. The mayor admitted he has a problem and is getting professional help. Everyone is on notice and the mayor ought to be dateless for a while.

Woman Says Filner Grabbed, Kissed Her During Meeting

The so-called "office" that is set up in the lobby of the administration building is an open cubicle, at least it was in February. Its not a meeting room. Perhaps they changed it? There are staffers taking notes, security and news media all over the place. Unlikely that they would leave the Mayor along with a walk in off the street during Saturday "office hours". Besides, I thought that the Mayor preferred younger women like his ex-fiancé. Don't have any first hand knowledge, but it doesn't sound right. Have they published the affidavit from this 72 year old?

Overall, with all of the noise, it sounds like Mayor Filner may have some impulse control issues and need to learn about appropriateness. He's a human and needs support and help, no different than anyone having personal struggles and working for the City. Take a breathe folks.

Filner: 'A Fair, Independent Investigation Will Support My Innocence'

The Mayor has hit bottom, lost his relationship and his planned wedding, and has been publicly humiliated. He admitted the problem which is a good first step, he has apologized and is apologizing, and he admits he needs help and is getting it.

Good for Cory, Donna and Marco to stand up for the alleged victims. Good for Lorena and Toni to express their opinions.

All constructive. Let's take a breathe, let the news cycle move along and see how the process unfolds.

San Diego is coming out of some serious financial challenges and needs to get re-balanced. The Paradise Plundered judgments got us into a serious mess with a right wing reaction and now we get to be led by a Mayor with left wing reaction.
