A Brief History Of Sexual Harassment

The reason sexual harassment accusations are difficult to prove is due to a lack of evidence, and/or credible witnesses. Nothing about this looks good for Filner, but in a court of law he is innocent until proven guilty, and the judge and jury will have to weigh on this when it's presented. The way things are moving along I would not be surprised if the mayor wins a change of venue for proceedings. Doesn't look like he'll get a fair trial in San Diego now or ever.

San Diego Democrats Call For Filner To Resign

Looks like cities across the country, probably all of the government itself, should review what steps can, and should, be done when a scandal of this scopes envelopes government.

Even if Filner, however unlikely, is innocent there is no way he can overcome the accusations and reputation as a harasser of women. His ability to lead is tarnished and ineffective. If he truly cared about the city he would admit this and resign, but he won't because this is about him, and his reputation is everything to him. He will not admit he cannot defeat these accusations because his entire world would fold if he did. And let's not forget we have yet to see the evidence against him. Witnesses will be helpful for the accused, but don't be surprised how little water that holds when a jury is given instructions by a judge on what is admissable and not.

In the private sector the CEO of a company would be forced out. Based on what is happening, there should be proceedings for Filner to be impeached, or something similar, and be removed. The problem is that we are now hearing how this case may not reach the courts until 18 months from now. Are we going to be made to wait this long? Probably.

....And don't forget he still may beat this rap. Look at Casey Anthony and George Zimmerman. Everyone was against them. Everyone was sure of their guilt. They are free.

Filner Harassment Scandal Grows As Second Woman Comes Forward

There's something else wrong with our government. Apparently Filner may remain as mayor even if convicted of sexual harassment. He may only be removed from office by a very costly recall.

What were they thinking?

Filner Not Invited To Speak At National Women Veterans Association Gala

Filner's cry for help is as pathetic as Penn State coach Joe Paterno crying, "I didn't know how to handle that type of situation." (His explanation for not turning in Sandusky to the authorities for raping children).

There's been enough information out there for years about how to behave in the work place and how to treat each person with fairness.

Big Personalities Are Front And Center In NYC Mayoral Race

Does New York have no better persons to run for office to the point they have to turn to those who have disgraced their families, constituents, and the offices they held. In all of the city there are no persons better?

Tijuana's Mayor Takes Issue With State Department's Tijuana Travel Warning

In fairness to Mexico, the 9 major American cities with higher homicide rates should be on the travel alert, too.

Mexico's mayor is wrong stating the U.S. is causing the crime. The deportees are Mexican nationals (the persons the mayor refers too).

It is generally believed although U.S. gunmakers are not directly responsible for the violence south of the border (as well as in the U.S.), they are taking advantage of a situation where it pays to keep making weapons for law-abiding citizens as well as the drug cartel, murderers, and the syndicate.

The Mexican government bears the largest shame because not even Mexicans trust their government. I accept responsibility as an American for how we have allowed our constitution to be manipulated by those who want a gun in every home. America is the largest weapons exporter in the world and will continue to be so long as jobs are created.

But you (Mexico) can't go on blaming the U.S. for your problems. Even without the warning I would not travel down there again because of what I hear in the news and how bad it is from family living there. I used to go for lobster in Puerto Nuevo, camping on the beach in Rosarito. Never again.

Impact Of Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Against Mayor, City

I understand she may be entitled to backpay based on the law, but are we going to wind up making the accusers millionnaires resulting from Filner's behavior? If so, I certainly hope Filner can be sued for paying back the taxpayer.

How Will Trayvon Martin Case Impact Race Relations In San Diego?

He would have been better to say, "Due to the Stand Your Ground law in Florida, what happened to Martin could have happened to any one of us."

I didn't vote for Obama because he's black. I voted for him because I thought he'd do a better job than McCain and Romney. I still do. But for the first time I feel like he's telling us he's not the American president, but a black man.

Still, I understand where he's coming from. I'm a minority, too. But oddly the racist comments I've received in my life have been directed at me by black people, not white. Although some whites have, they were mostly black. And the prejudiced comments directed toward me have been from Mexicans who don't believe I'm Mexican enough. They accuse me of being ashamed of being a Mexican because I'm different than the stereotype.

I think the president would have been better to keep out of this. The law is the law and will remain so until changed.
