Transgender Law Reaffirms San Diego Schools' Approach, Says Board President

Having provided support for several trans kids, teens and adults, I'm very happy that California has added these protections for our trans brothers and sisters.

Native Americans have long recognized, before the Christian conquests, multiple genders and sexual orientations. Not just male, not just female. Some fell into other categories and Native Americans wisely accepted them as they were and integrated them into their tribes for thousands of years.

Hopefully more states will join California in enacting similar legislation.

Scenic Baja California toll road that connects Tijuana, Ensenada collapses

Glad nobody was injured by this natural disaster. Quote: "The collapse occurred at the Salsipuedes stretch of highway about 10 miles north of Ensenada"

"Salsipuedes" in Spanish means "Get out, if you can."

How apropos.

California Schools Prepare For Transgender Rights Law

So happy to see California leading the nation in transgender rights. People that are concerned about some boys "abusing" the new rules really need to learn what "being" transgender actually is and how this law applies to true transgender persons.

It's not like Monday Jason will choose to call himself a girl and on Tuesday he'll be able to use the girls restrooms and lockers. That's not how this law works and that's not how being transgender works. Besides, just think of the scorn and ridicule Jason would get from his buddies for even trying something like that.

Transgender people have been with us since recorded history. And it is long past due that we should include them into the fabric of society. People that think being transgender will catch on like the latest fashion or smartphone app don't know what they're talking about.

Being transgender is a long and arduous process. Most times a lifelong process that does begin in childhood.

People should make more effort to educate themselves about transgender people: http://www.apa.org/topics/sexuality/t...

Group sues California over new transgender law

People that think that boys will "choose" to be transgender on a whim, just so that they can go into the girls locker room misunderstand the letter of the law. It just doesn't work that way.

Personally knowing many trans people myself, they first have to seek a therapist and then be diagnosed with gender identity disorder, the process itself can take about 1 year. Then they are either put on hormone blockers and/or start taking hormones for their identified gender.

After which they literally start living as the boy or girl that they have always felt as. And then their mind will be in sync with their body.

To force these trans kids to use the bathrooms of their "birth" gender no longer makes sense, since by this point, they are the opposite gender from their birth certificate. Until such time that they can get that changed.

Again, a school boy on Monday will not claim himself transgender on Tuesday and then be allowed into the girls facilities. Because that's not how this law is setup. That's not now being transgender works.

And besides, think of the scorn and ridicule that boy will receive from his classmates if he starts to identify as the opposite gender.

But for true transgender kids, this is about helping them and supporting them during their transition.

Arizona Detective Resigns Over Resident Status

I don't know about other people, but this lady has earned that right to be a citizen! Instead of taking anything from the system, she was out protecting the public.
