Rants And Raves: The Golden Globes

Yes, Jodi Foster brought more confusion than clarity to whatever it was she was trying to say. She's gay? She's retiring? She loves the crew more than anyone? All of the above? Pick one from column A? Maybe it was nerves over coming out. She's certainly not new to microphones.

I was surprised "Paperboy" was overlooked. Nicole Kidman was mentioned, for supporting actress I think, but she should have got more recognition for presenting the best bimbo ever on film. John Cusack gave an incredibly frightening performance in that film--almost a "Hannibal Lecter," but received no notice. And I don't understand the snub of "Hastings on the Hudson." Bill Murray was superb in that and I thought the film overall was very good.

Military Moms Breastfeeding In Uniform Create Controversy

What is this nonsense "When you put on the uniform, you are representing the country." Well, what, or who, is the country? These two women are precisely the type of country I want to live in-- free and open and normal and natural. It is the uptight, "might makes right" kind of people who are perverting the essence of America. I am grateful for the fact that we have women such as these in the military.

Congresswoman Davis Offers Options On Navy Broadway Project Location

I couldn't agree more. While the Navy has always had a major presence in San Diego, it is time it consolidated it's footprint onto the base and allowed the harbor front to be used for something that would benefit locals and visitors. There is no good reason to have the Navy headquartered at the foot of downtown San Diego. We already have the Midway and maritime museum. No one is going to forget the Navy is in San Diego. The right thing to do is to allow that land to be used for something the Navy, citizens, and visitors alike can enjoy.
