U-T San Diego Circulation Drops 5 Percent In Last Year

@MissionAccomplished. Did you buy a second parrot and need to line the cage?

Poll Shows Prop 30 Could Get Support It Needs

Rather than accepting CalDefender's points on faith, it's best to read the info pamphlets about the election. I have, and I'm voting Yes on 30. (I'm not starting a Comments debate with CalD. Just suggesting you look further.)

Proposition 33 Benefits Calif. Drivers With Insurance But Those With Lapsed Coverage Would Pay More

When a businessman spends $23,000,000 of his own money to try to get something passed, it's a surety that he's not concerned with helping YOU.

How Obama Got His Groove Back, And Other Debate Takeaways

HarryStreet's is the only comment worth reading. No commentor, including the ubiquitous, and boring, Peking and OCB, is going to change their mind because of what someone else says/writes. It is extremely doubtful that any reader will change his/her mind, either. Studies show that people rarely change their core selves. Would it be a relief if Peking, OCB, and some others addressed each other directly by email, relieving the rest of readers from observing their fights in the sand box? (I anticipate replies of "Then don't read them," which isn't the point. I'm not going to debate any of them here, which would only add to the electronic equivalent of column inches they already overuse.

Kickstarter For 'Styria'

Stephen Rea doesn't appear in amateur films. As a former film maker I find the trailer, at least, seems to present professionalism. Distributors have gone with worse.

Union Leader Banned From Walmart After Action Campaign

I agree wjth 1Kent and would like to see a comment from a lawyer or judge. Peking_ seems to have missed the point.

Mom Of Slain Former SEAL Killed In Libya Lashes Out At Romney (Video)

There's nothing I can add to what has been said, but I offer that this veteran of 28 years in the Air Force, and my other retired military friends, think that Obama could be better than he has been, but Romney would do great damage to those not luckly enough to be wealthy. He is the most unworthy to be President than any other candidate in my many years.
(Aside to Navy Veteran: Extremely long comments tend not to be read, defeating their points.)

Report: UT-San Diego Buys NC Times

@Batmick. My home delivery and my daughter's of the LA Times arrives the same time the U-T used to, well before 6 AM. Also, the LAT had, and may still have, a special home delivery price of $1.90 a week for a period of time, but you must ask for it.

Report: UT-San Diego Buys NC Times

My experience echoes that of SDListener. After more than two decades of susbcribing to the U-T I, too, had had enough. The paper has become mean and uncivil in its editorials; obviously not reporting Mr Manchester's questionable actions; in short, his mouthpiece. I now subscribe to the LA Times (an unexpected benefit is that I pay about half what I did for home delivery of the U-T). The difference in attitudes of the two papers, politics aside, is striking, the LAT being civil. If I didn't have a lifelong habit of reading a newspaper with breakfast I'd not get a print newspaper at all. The Washington Post and NY Times send me more online news and opinions every day than I can read in a day--free.

Four Camp Pendleton Marines Accused Of Beating Gay Man (Video)

Watch the video, Gchristian. Everything you say is contrary to the facts. The marines are being investigated by Long Beach law enforcement, as that's where the beating took place. If a buddy hadn't come to the victim's aid the marines could have been facing a death prosecution. It is of course a hate crime. Again, the video shows conclusively that the marines entered a gay bar and beat up a gay after doing all they could to provoke him. If they're found guilty, they won't have been "burnt by the system," but found guilty by a jury (unless they plead guilty). I realize you don't want to be confused by facts. Your hatred of gays comes through clearly.
