I could not be more proud of our efforts to help local Veterans! Programs like Troops to Energy provide a solution to these men and women leaving the military that they might not have otherwise. I am a Marine Veteran myself and I can tell you about the challenges of getting out. The men and women of the military do not know what they have to offer an employer. Their first thoughts are of becoming a police officer, firefighter or becoming an officer in the military. Those are all great choices, but may not be available in this economy. I hire as many vets as I can because they offer a strong work ethic, sense of duty, maturity and these folks learn skills very quickly. These are just a few reasons I hire Veterans. In my field, people like Don Reid (we found him through Troops to Energy!) become very successful very quickly. Once they start to learn trade skills, their leadership training from the military takes over and they become leaders on the projects they are building. I could go on all day about the benefits of hiring men and women coming out of the military. Providing an opportunity to these folks is one of the most enriching aspects of my own career at Bergelectric.
