Filner Vows To Move Forward As Mayor In Recall Response

I'm not thrilled with the absolute waste of money to be spent on a recall, some 3 million dollars has been projected. But Filner must go and he's said repeatedly, even today, that he is not going on his own. He could save the people of this city lots of money, angst and embarrassment by leaving. But he wants to continue this dance of manipulation and deceit. If this city office was a private company, the due process question would never come up, and he'd have been escorted out of his office by security weeks ago. He's leaving us no option but to begin the recall process. If he truly loved this community, he would man up and get out. His reign of terror is over, he just doesn't seem to get it yet.

Strata: My guess is that when you posed for your photo with Mr. Filner he declined to grab your butt or cop a boob feel as he has done with several women I have met.

So Filner should be allowed to continue to abuse, intimidate and disenfranchise women for another three years? What if he had picked a different group of people as targets for abuse, intimidate and disenfranchise? This man is abusive. We can't just chuckle and call him a "stubborn mule" and excuse his behavior.

Filner Vows To Move Forward As Mayor In Recall Response

Our city is a national punch line. Our mayor hasn't been seen or heard from since August 26. He's under investigation by the FBI for several felony level offenses. He skipped the National Conference of Mayors to go Paris with his now ex- "First Lady" - by the way, we paid for portions of both trips. He's unavailable until next week, skipping all scheduled appearances and delaying critical city business. Don't know about ya'll but most of us don't get our paid vacation within the first year of a job, let alone three weeks. Filner insolently bagged virtually all his city orientation and training despite repeated requests from city HR, including refusing to complete sexual harassment training - which could have been done in a couple hours online. Even without factoring in his anger management issues, bullying behavior and serial sexual misconduct, plus the intimidation and abuse of women all over our city, including city employees - HOW could anyone fail to see that this man needs to go away?
