Whatever the administration's excuse for canceling the program, it's a sad day. As an LCC alumna who worked on the paper for three years, I can say, without a doubt, that being on the newspaper was one of the most valuable parts of my high school experience. It taught me essential writing, editing, and management skills, and helped me get into a top college. It makes me sad that LCC is such a sports-focused school. It's obvious that its administration hasn't tried very hard to save a program that, in the long run, will provide far more value to students than, say, volleyball. Very sad.
