I wonder if Americans tend to be happier with inequality in this country in a significant part because we still view ourselves as the "richest, most powerful" country on earth?
I wonder if our satisfaction with inequality at home will change as China clearly become bigger, stronger, richer than the US, which is inevitable, given the huge difference in population?
Another factor to consider: a sizable portion of our lowest income population comes from Latin American, where life would likely be more dismal, so those people are happy to be at the bottom in the USA? Will this also continue if Mexico and other countries become more attractive to its citizens?
