Cost Of Water Will Rise In San Diego

The irony is that if we conserve the golden egg which is water revenue used by our local government to pay everything from ill gotten pension scams to seat guarantee contracts at the stadium rates will increase. Unfortunately as consumption decreases usage rates increase because our local government uses the money for many other things outside of the water and sewer system. Conservation is penalized with higher rates. Our water rate system is corrupt and desperately needs reform to protect consumers from governmental fraud and the environment from water profiteering.

Tourism At Baja Beaches Hurting Despite Being Safe

Allow foreign ownership of land in Mexico and things will improve. There is and has been a great amount of 'minor' drug related violence in Rosarito and I have witnessed one killing on the street late one night by one Mexican against another who tried to protect a young naive American girl. In any event the large money making enterprises in Mexico are owned by the corrupt and brutally violent cartels so why patronize their peaceful resorts if the money just flows back into their pockets elsewhere? Only if the Mexican government liberalizes foreign property ownership will things improve but until then there are many better places to patronize. How is that for honest public service?

San Diego Housing Prices Tick Up

How in tarnation is this 'good news"? Housing is still unaffordable when a reasonable ratio between income and home prices is used and banks are not lending now anyway unless you have money to waste on depreciating values. This is good news for speculating homeowners that wish to sell or re-finance their liar loan and BAD news for those who want to buy a family home without prices being inflated, proped up and manipulated by government, financial institutions and especially news pundits. And by the way the slow down in foreclosures is largely due to the decrease in robo signing and is not indicitive of free market health. Please report the news with balance and depth instead of being a mouthpiece for market bulls and speculators.
