Police, Lifeguards Want to End Mission Bay "Floatopias"

Personally, I think the civil liberties angle has pretty much gotten old. For all of you who like to drink (and I am one of those), it is not a right to drink in general, so gain a little maturity. Freedom is alive and well. My freedom to go to the beach and bay and not be bothered by drunken idiots has been restored. My freedom to not have persons puke and urinate in my neighborhood has been assisted - especially if the opportunity to do this is reduced by less events like these. And, my tax dollars are not being used to splurge on an event that I personally think is so not classy.

If PB wants to attract this type of person(s) because they claim they spend money, there is clearly something wrong with their facts. Last I saw these event attendees come with their own beer and spend next to nothing in our neighborhood compared to an actual tourist travelling here for their vacation.

Alcohol & Crime In Pacific Beach

It is too bad that the information shared by the presenters from ABC and Vice were not completely honest with their responses.

ABC states that they look at the town individually. This is completely not true. There are not enough resources at the state level to be able to enforce the licenses they currently have. And, they look at the county total population statistics, not the town when they evaluate how many more licenses that can be added. There needs to be controls at a local level, and the businesses that are creating the problems should pay for this, not the businesses that do not create the problems.

Police say that crime is down in 2009 compared to 2008 in Pacific Beach. No percentages, no facts as to why. Could it be if there are less cops to enforce that there are less crimes? Ya think? It is still rated as one of the most highest in crime neighborhoods in the City.

No wonder our City is in the shape it is in. If you rely on the civil servants to give you the straight scoop you surely will not get the complete story. They will merely protect their jobs.
