"The Port District has already gained Coastal Commission blessing to build a cruise ship terminal at the foot of Broadway." Not accurate. The Port District issued a Coastal Development Permit to itself. All local government agencies are entitled to do so within the limits of a Coastal Development Plan that was pre-approved by the Coastal Commission. Such permits are appealable to the Coastal Commission in San Francisco, if they stray from that Plan. That is what has happened with the cruise ship terminal. Therefore it is not accurate to say that it was "blessed" by the Coastal Commission. It was NOT part of the Port’s pre-approved Coastal Development Plan. That is why there has been an appeal. Steve Cushman has contrived Amnesia. An awakened public will not allow him to get away with this.
