American Teen Visiting Israel Reportedly Beaten By Police

Did Scott Neuman or anyone else on NPR write about the kidnapping and murder of the three Israeli teenagers by Palestinians who later bragged about it?

Immigrant Stories On Screen

Check out WHO IS DAYANI CRISTAL? Was playing at Digital Gym last week. Shows what happens to the people who ride on top of the trains from honduras et al. to the mexican-U.S. border once they climb over the fence into the desert

Vietnam Veterans Not Fonda UCLA's Choice For Graduation Speaker

She seems to have had a real change of heart. Anyhow, why should U.S. war veterans emulate the bigoted actions of left-wing groups that have stopped so many public figures with contrasting views from speaking at their universities? I say, let UCLA hear what this old lady has to say!

San Diego County Turnout Just 20 Percent

Peking_Duck_SD: I think the answer is yes. Not that we want uninformed people casting votes. What's required for democracy to work the way the Founders envisioned it is an involved and informed electorate. We sure don't have that in San Diego!

District Attorney Dumanis Re-Elected, Defeats 2 Challengers

Hey Philosopher 3000: Two people who are very worthy of being DA were so willing to do it that they gave their all in an attempt to unseat the unappetizing incumbent. She doesn't deserve the job, and either one of her opponents this time would have very much deserved it. But San Diego voters often elect corrupt people. This is (sadly) just another case.

PETA's Anti-SeaWorld Poster To Go Up At Lindbergh Field

This arm-twistwing by PETA et al. to force local airport to display sign denigrating a major local attraction is horrible beyond words. I urge everyone with the slightest interest in marine life to go to Seaworld as often as possible from now on and take all your visitors.
I've taken children on numerous occasions; once we went for the backstage tour and found it immensely inspiring. Even the teenaged boy in our group thought so!

Judge Seals District Attorney Office Records In Chula Vista Investigation

DeLaRick: Every civil case is a waste of time and taxpayers' money by your standards. Each one concerns only the specific plaintiff. But that's what the court system is all about in a free country.
When it comes to a criminal case, involving a government agency like the DA, the only way to expose wrong-doing is for someone SPECIFIC to bring a SPECIFIC suit against the government. (The beauty of our system is that you CAN fight City Hall!) The public at large can't sue the government for general malfeasance! In this case a KPBS investigation uncovered something suspicious that bore directly on one individual, suggesting that he may have been unjustly treated by the justice system several years back. Thank the Lord that he has the recourse to try to get justice now! The rest of us shouldn't moan and groan because our tax dollars are being spent in an attempt to get someone else justice.
Just saying

Judge Seals District Attorney Office Records In Chula Vista Investigation

Re popular DAs, I've only been here since Dumanis took office, but from everything I hear or read Ed Miller was so highly respected as SanDiego DA that he was actually beloved. He served for a number of years, just before Pfingst, I believe. The guy before Miller was also, apparently, highly respected.
So it's not at all inevitable that a DA will be unpopular. It depends on the kind of job you do.
