San Diego Unified School District Considering 900 Layoffs To Balance Budget

@Emily Richards

You had a very interesting question and frankly I felt that Richard Barrera simply avoided answering it. This is exactly why the school board invokes so much distrust among taxpayers, which is really sad!

San Diego Unified Could Eliminate 500 Teachers

I may or may not support SD4great schools. But I certainly have more respect for Irwin Jacobs than Shelia Jackson and Richard Barrera.

City Council Considers Menu Of Options To Cut Deficit

I find it hard to believe that city has a problem with finances when our leaders keep on talking about building new stadiums, libraries, city hall, convention centers, beautifying emarcadero etc.

I would not vote for any tax or fees increase until city shuts down off balance sheet slush funds like CCDC comes clean on the extent of their problem.

Should California Move Forward With Plan To Build High-Speed Rail System?

1) How green is this project when you consider all the carbon released during the construction phase?

2) Wouldn't it be much better for the earth if this money is instead spent on developing and expanding commuter transport systems in LA, Bay Area and San Diego. (e.g. Maybe actually connect LAX to union station, anyone?)

Unfortunately high speed trains are sexy, buses and subways are not :(
