Muslim San Diego Residents Call For Halal School Lunches

It seems, on the surface, like a nice, considerate and thoughtful idea for accommodating people with different beliefs. But where does the accommodation stop? If Muslims get halal food, than why can't Jews who follow their traditional dietary laws get kosher food? What about children being raised as vegetarians? Where's their accommodation?

The practical matter is, it's too expensive for school districts to feed all children the type of food their parents want them to eat. No system is perfect, and the free lunch system may only work for the great majority (90%+?) of the kids out there, and the others will just have to make do with food they bring from home.

I'm a vegetarian, but I won't take it personally. I realize it's just a practical matter in a world of limited resources that has to be dealt with.

Dumanis Wrote Letter For Mexican Donor's Relative

It seems there are (at least) a couple things missing from this story. Most important is, why is Azano trying to get this letter released, and why now? Yes, his lawyer stated that reporters would like to see it, but so what? How does the release of this letter benefit his client? Second, how did the reporter confirm the letter was on behalf of Azano's son?

San Diego Mayor Bob Filner Resigns

Why was he given an extra week as mayor before the resignation officially takes effect? Surely he won't be on the job. Why this technicality?

Filner Harassment Scandal Grows As Second Woman Comes Forward

Self-correction: There certainly is a statute of limitations for civil suits. What was I thinking!?

We regret the error.

Filner Harassment Scandal Grows As Second Woman Comes Forward

Yep, nikkineel, an eight year old allegation. It supports the allegations, less than 6 months old, from Ms. McCormack Jackson. And any more women who might come forward now, encouraged by the two brave souls who have already done so, could be alleging sexual harassment weeks old, months old or years old. Each of these allegations, regardless of age, lends more credence to the others. In a criminal trial, a statute of limitations might come into play. In a civil case, not so. And as far as his fitness for office and the looming recall vote are concerned, the ages of the allegations are completely irrelevant.

Another Pesticide Link To Vanishing Honeybees

"Nieh said his latest research shows a certain type of pesticide may reduce bees interest in pollinating."

That's "bees' interest", of course. If you can't afford to hire proofreaders, can't you at least get some volunteers in the English Dept. at SDSU to look over your stories before posting?
