Is Being Fat Really a Problem?

This is truly nauseating. With one third of Americans obese and a much larger proportion significantly overweight, particularly children, the last thing we need is a group of scholars telling us that being grotesquely large is not a health problem. The only true form of fat liberation is eating less, having a well-balanced diet, and doing regular exercise, preferably combining cardiovascular conditioning with an anaerobic routine. Peddling this nonsense as academic research and masking one's poor lifestyle choices as a human rights issue will not liberate anyone. An education in Fat Studies will not address the severe health problems facing America--heart disease, diabetes and other conditions associated with heft being the most common ailments. Not to mention the loss in economic productivity.
