I love the idea of eliminating the parking spaces from the Plaza. But doing it by building something that lets even more cars in doesn't make sense. Why not just eliminate the 70 parking spaces, period? Let people park in the other lots. Also, I'm assuming the parking structure would accomodate more than 70 parking spaces. If that's true, then that means even more cars will be using Laurel Street and the Bridge to come into the park than before, which will then make it more difficult for pedestrians to come in on the bridge. I think if the purpose is making the Plaza pedestrian friendly lets just make it so! Eliminate the parking spaces. Stop designing for the automobile, it's not 1950 anymore!!! Think about how Europe designs public spaces. The car is secondary!
