L.A. Sheriff Reaches Out To Muslims As Feds Increase Surveillance

I shudder at the fact that our politicians are arguing like the people, not necessarily logical and not necessarily objective. 9/11 is definitely an emotional subject but we can't let that blur our ability to act justly and as "Americans". I can recall many instances that were fueled by different faiths and different reasons that resulted in violence. There will always be a facade of racial profiling but lets face it, some things are statistically more frequent according to region.

This does not mean we can focus solely on the religion itself to solve all issues of terrorism. But what is the solution to this apparently superficial form of judgement?

I know one thing for certain is that history has proven time and time again that once we focus on a religion as the source of issues we simply fortify the issues at hand and create a war where there may have only been a resistance of cultural uniformity and a small sect of that coming out as violence.

I suppose ignorance begets ignorance?

Locals Students Play Harry Potter's Quidditch

Love it! I would think it was more complicated minus the flying component because you actually have to hold the broom up rather than hold yourself on it.

Chula Vista Schools Plan To Combat Obesity

I dont contend the obesity epidemic that plagues the world but I do contend the way we measure it. BMI is antiquated and fails to recognize "skinny fat people" and rather than focusing on what the body is made of it focuses on weight and weight alone (doesnt muscle weigh more than fat ?). I would rather not see a public institution perpetuate the fuel for eating disorders. Rock on with encouraging healthy lifestyle but lets encourage healthy thinking as well.

Groups Hail High Court Ruling On Challenge To Bag Ban

Aside from environmental concerns - plastic bags cost money and while we dont directly pay for them, our groceries hide the cost. While I am a frequent offender of forgetting my bags at home, having costumers take the brunt of the cost at a face value in directly paying for the bag at the checkout would drive more than one point home. The thought of IKEA comes to mind, I remember to bring a bag with me because I know I will otherwise be carrying everything if I do not (paying for a bag is just an unnecessary cost to me).
