Number Of Families Living In Poverty, Hunger Rising In San Diego County
One program that could use help is the San Diego Food Bank's Food 4 Children Backpack program, which helps feed school kids on weekends when they can't get school meals.
On Monday, Nov. 23, look for information from your favorite San Diego food bloggers about a holiday drive supporting this program. We'll be collecting backpacks for kids (filled with child-friendly non-perishable food and school supplies) and funds (via http://firstgiving.com/food4kids) through Dec. 12. On Dec. 12, the Food Bank will have a booth at the Little Italy Mercato, where they'll collect the backpacks. For more information, visit San Diego Foodstuff (http://www.sandiegofoodstuff.com) on Nov. 23!
