Soaring Costs For California's Failing Prison System

i just did 22 years in prison and the last 8 years i was in the medical facility at california mens colony east. out of the 975 prisoner about 80% are there for mental or medical relief. the main problem i saw was 10-15% are there under the three strikes law. almost all of three strikers committed no serious or violent crime. most, just petty theft. yet they are doing 25 years to life for these non violent-non serious petty crimes. about 15-20 thousand inmates in the california prisons are non violent-non serious three strikers doing 25 to life. most have already done 12 to 16 years for petty crimes. this is one of the reasons for the overcrowding.
