Ugh...there is so much "facepalm" in this story.

As Miramar Landfill Fills Up, San Diego City Council To Consider Zero Waste Initiative

It seems that I have drawn out comments much stronger on abstractions and clichés instead of facts again.

As Miramar Landfill Fills Up, San Diego City Council To Consider Zero Waste Initiative

I don't know who muckapoo1 is, but I know who Oliver Wendell Holmes was. Justice Holmes said "Taxes are what we pay for civilized society..."

Manchester And Lynch Discuss Plans For The U-T

Before being insulted by the swipe at Berkeley, I found it to be absurd because of how trite it is, Philosopher 3000.

After thinking about it, I'd give Manchester the benefit of a doubt because I think that the guy is buying the You-Tee for a relatively small amount for a media enterprise. Inside of buying a business cheap and lowering expectations for it, (think time running in reverse in David Halberstam's history of the L.A. Times in "The Powers That Be"), taking a swipe at a Berkeley of the 1960s in the throws of the Free Speech movement panders to dead tree edition readers whose ossified minds are too stubborn to adapt to new media.

All in all, Manchester would have been better inviting listeners to a séance to contact Herb Klein: it would have sounded equally as foolish while offending no one.
