Nurse Wanting Help For Marine Says Filner Made Unwanted Sexual Advances

There legions of political operatives on federal, state and local levels whose only job is to diffuse facts into rumors. On the other hand, there are people whose primary job is to punch through the levels of BS cover around rumors and get to raw facts. These people are called journalists. However, when it comes to getting facts out whenever a non-Republican is at stake, they just keep failing the public.

'Gangnam Style' Singer Psy Apologizes For Anti-Military Song

and that's exactly how capitalism works, cuz if you want to have a successful business, you can't afford to be an a-hole, a jerk, a racist, etc.

Cost To Repair Lily Pond Nearly Twice What Expected

instead of just brainlessly repeating press releases I would like (no, dare) KPBS actually do some investigative reporting and find out what the costs are, how contracts are given out, to whom and who is making money on this one.

Underwater Homeowners Start To Lose Patience

twocatshack, I agree with you that people should stop blaming banks and take responsibility for their own actions. However, getting a mortgage is a business transaction and it should be about business, not morality. That's the reason doing business with friends and family is a bad idea is exactly because morality sometimes have to be taken out of the equation. You have to do what makes financial sense for you. The only moral obligation is to stay within the boundaries of law. A mortgage is a contract: you get the money, the bank gets the house as a collateral. It's perfectly fine to break the contract if the total cost to you of doing so is less than the cost of keeping it. A bank has no qualms about taking an action that improves its bottom line (case in point, Morgan Stanley walking away from San Francisco towers in 2009 or Sunstone waking away from W Hotel here in San Diego). Neither should you.

Planned Development In Little Italy Stirring Up Controversy

They are not dictating, they are fighting for their business. There is no reason Solar Turbine should just accept what's happening without putting up a fight. The same goes for the developer. And ultimately, it's up to the people to make the choice.

California Could Face Lawsuit Over Inequities In School Funding

wait, wait, let me get this straight... so I work my butt off so that I can live in a nicer neighborhood and pay extra so that my children can get good education, and you want me to have a guilt trip about it? Go pleasure yourself.

And another point, California can have a 90% income tax and a 50% property tax and it still has a very high chance of running out of money.

The Return Of Floatopia

Oh, I don't know... Could it be because we insist on treating people like little children who know not what they are doing? Part of being an adult is being able to make your own choice and then deal with consequences of those choices. We don't seem to allow people much of either.
