I was devastated when I heard this story on KPBS yesterday. With all the red tape involved in demolition in this city, I'm shocked, shocked this building has been reduced to a pile of cement rubble. I'm doubly disgusted that this was done under the command of the Salvation Army, whose intentions to improve the lives of men and women in need are noble, but whose (growing?) presence downtown, I believe, is an obstacle to the development of safe and appealing residential neighborhoods there. For anyone interested in seeing the beautiful building that was destroyed, for a limited time (until Google's street view team updates the area) it will be visible online at this link: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sourc...
