The concept of bio-mimicry seems to be a very promising field. Sadly, the only thought in my mind while hearing the energy saving potential was this: SDG&E has been asking us to conserve energy for some time now and we've done very well to cut back. However, as a side-effect to our power saving, energy rates are rising because SDG&E cannot meet operational costs. This puts us in an odd situation where our technology is getting ahead of an outdated and costly energy grid. I'm afraid that if we adopt these technologies too early before we create a more efficient way of producing energy then we will find ourselves in a situation where we will be forced to pay ridiculous prices for energy. It's all a slippery slope from there... Higher energy costs = more individual household conservation which in turn = yet more fee hikes.
