Goldsmith Doesn't Want Office Lawyers To Go To Mayor Filner's Office Alone

What sort of slanted article is this from KPBS! This city atty needs to GO! This is why elected attys do not work well. He is a staunch GOPer and his main goal is to discredit the dem mayor so the repubs can try to get back into the mayors seat nxt election. He should be focused on his job. Where is the KPBS article on how many cases this atty has lost! How much has he cost the taxpayers because his work has been so shoddy and he is focused on things other than his job! Filner is fixing the city so that the people finally have a place at city hall and they cannot stand it!!! He is dismantling decades of corrupt and unfair city politics and the developer and other corporate relationships and they are pissed! This article is terrible KPBS, you can do better! You are not supposed to be a VOSD you know! Maybe you should stop hanging with them so much! Yr stories and interviews are getting skewed. Or maybe its yr donors skewing them, all we know is the talk on the street is about what is happening with KPBS reporting these days. Jerry Sanders called the citizens who didn't agree with him on the destruction of Balboa Park "idiots" and refused to meet with citizens groups on all manner of issues and problems facing their neighborhoods, he told a fellow candiate to "F you" in public forum! and he called Demaio a BS'er... Where were yr lessons on civility then??

Complications Persist For Plaza De Panama Project

Although it has been difficult to distinguish any clear sky between this private project and the city. David Marshall is not the city of San Diego's preservation consultant for the Plaza de Panama project. He is an employee of the Plaza de Panama team.

Another Balboa Park Proposal To Be Unveiled

Additionally, the city spoke person is misinformed as the plan does in fact take into account the terrain in that area of the park and throughout the park.
Mr. Lewis is a world-class architect who has taken into consideration all aspects of his plan and also the goals and desires of not only Dr. Jacobs plan but also that of the public, the institutions, parks & rec and it protects the historic attributes of the national historic landmark while allowing for future restoration of the park.

Perhaps the city protest so much because the plan meets all the goals and more of the original proposal and is making the Plaza de Panama design team and the city look bad for not finding this elegant and all encompassing solution themselves!

Judge Will Not Stop Walmart Construction In Sherman Heights

"While the tower is easily visible to commuters, the structure does not meet any of the city's criteria for historic buildings."

This is an absolutely false statement and in fact the entire building was deemed eligible for local designation by the city under criterion A & C.

Caliente Sign On California Theater May Disappear

Thank you for bringing attention to this important issue Ms Carone. For those interested in learning about historic signage and the guidelines that help teach how to protect them here is a link
SOHO uses the National Park Services Preservation briefs to guide us on all sorts of issues too bad the city HRB staff does not.

Balboa Park Parking Plan Draws Fire

Great show. Balanced and certainly newsworthy. Thanks to Irwin Jacobs for his philanthropic nature and thanks to SOHO who stepped up in a major way and looks like they can help channel an idea with an admirable goal that became a bad design into a good project and a great legacy for Jacobs and the city. Thank you KPBS for bringing this story to the forefront.

Art Deco Treasure Demolished

To CV Gracie. You are sorely misinformed. I am a member of SOHO and I know exactly what they do and I also know that every citizen in this county should be grateful to this dedicated community service organization. The Salvation Army certainly did know it was historic; it is a matter of record. They had to apply for non-designation using the religious exemption law and they knew it when they hired a lawyer known for getting non -historic status for their clients. SOHO has not failed the public and is the most effective organization of its type in the region, so what the heck are you talking about. Perhaps you are confusing them with another group, because there is no one in San Diego who thinks SOHO is ineffective. There are developers, builders and those who don’t care about the quality of life that SOHO works to protect who do not like SOHO but dropping the ball or being ineffective is not any of their reasons.
