Occupy Wall Street Comes To San Diego

I'll be there. Enough is enough. The US needs to re-access it's values. If there is no more middle class there will be no way to ever recover this economy. We will become a 3rd world country. End the off shore tax havens, corporations are NOT people. Get big money out of elections. See you there.

New Stadium Faces Stubborn Obstacles

I have an open mind for the Chargers to move to LA. If they want to build a stadium in SD, go for it. Just don't ask taxpayers to pay to build it or maintain it. I think we've learned that lesson with the sweetheart deals at the current stadium.
Mayor Sanders needs to let go of any scheme to help the Spanos family further enrich themselves at our expense.

SD Mayor Tours NFL Stadiums As LA Looms Large

There are no stadiums that make finacial sense to any city. I hope the Mayor faces the facts and gives up any idea of public land or money going to help the billionaire owners build a stadium. Read the books Bad Sports and Field of Schemes. They lay out the finances and boondoggles of sports stadiums. Fabiani is a snake oil salesman.

Social Security - Is It Time For Reform?

Your guest was not clear with his terminology. Filing to start collecting benefits is not related to being retired. One can continue to work and start collecting or reversely retire and delay collecting until ann older age. Also, I do believe that a birthday in 1949 as a full benefit age of 72. At least the chart the SSA sent me shows a higher benefit if I wait until 72 to start collecting. There are folks who specialize in crunching the numbers. Usually if one has little or no earned income, it is financially better to begin taking benefits as the earliest age.

KPBS Strengthens News Service

There are so many good programs produced around the country. I suggest: On Point with Tom Ashbrook also out of Boston, Being (formerly Speaking of Faith) with Krista Tippett, The Beat Authority with David Sommerstein-NCPR, This American Life with Ira Glass, The World Cafe with David Dye, Afropop Worldwide with Georges Collinet, The Latin Alternative with Josh Norek & Ernesto Lechner, The Splendid Table with Lynne Rossetto Kasper, The Vinyl Cafe with Stuart McLean, Mountain Stage with Larry Groce, Selected Shorts with Isaiah Sheffer, American Routes with Nick Spitzer. The programing at KPBS is so limited as to be "lame". I have traveled around the USA and find many stations have more diverse and professional programing. The current 2 hr block 9-11a is so terrible I can hardly listen, even if the segment is interesting. The interviewer is an amateur. We deserve better.

What Is Race?

When I grew up in the 1950's I was taught that there were only a few human races, caucasian, negro, asian. Now it seems that is "old thinking". Now people are asked to choose their cultural ie: hispanic, Pacific islander, native american, european, african, etc. Are you possiting that the old "race" categories are not anthropologically accurate or relavant? But rather an artificial contruct. Thanks, interesting topic.
