Staying Put: One Man's Thoughts On Crossing The Border 36 Years Later

Why didn't the written story note that both long term illegals required an interpreter to tell their tales?

Crossing the Line: Border Stories

I have enjoyed listening to this series. However as one who is conflicted about this issue I was distressed to listen to the tale of one illegal who has been in the US for 30 plus years who still required an interpreter to tell his tale, no wonder so many are vexed about this human tidal wave. I have no sympathy for the fact they get no benefits from their payment of taxes when they can only complain in Spanish. Another huge burden on CA taxes which this study entirely overlooked was the huge numbers of non US residents who attend public schools in the border districts. Non official sources estimate 30-40% on the Sweeter Union District alone. Yes the district gets more revenue but its costs the taxpayers more money not to mention the burden it places on the district due to the high number of non English speakers.
