First I want to commend you for including a discussion on the benefits, momentum and possibilities of going green in this morning's These Days session. I received a call from a colleague during the session that I needed to turn on the radio right away as they were discussing green homes. My name is Jennifer Owens and I manage residential education for the U.S. Green Building Council. The USGBC is a national non-profit that has been working to have a positive impact on our built environment for 15 years. Historically based in Washinton DC, we now have a residentially-focused office right here in San Diego where I am located. I want to extend our support and resources to your program and the KPBS station at large. If I had been able to join the conversation I would have advocated individuals to take advantage of a free public resource: REGREEN Program. REGREEN Program offers a set of residential remodeling guidelines as well as education to support them. The guidelines are free to download at www.regreenprogram.org and serve as a tool to educate both consumers and building industry professionals on green considerations and strategies that can and should be applied to our existing housing stock.
