False Rape Accusations Have Racial Implications

Unfortunately, in this case the race/ethnicity of the victim and alleged perps matters. That's because without the right mix between the victim and assailant, you don't really have a broader racial victim story and possible "impacts on communities of color" as was propounded in this show.

Is it "racism" (and are there "impacts on communities of color") if a latina victim Id's latino/hispanic perps? Harder to develop it into the broader thematic story. How about if the girl in this case claimed alleged perp was "white"?... or heaven helps us... mixed race. (as we all are to a degree...) Then what?

BTW, I don't really have a problem with the gangbanger part. In that case I think we can say they all suck, regardless of their race or ethnicity-- not exactly charitable organizations after all.

Well, there's plenty of racism in this country and elsewhere, practiced by both "people of color" and "non-color" alike. And it should be vigorously condemned at every opportunity.

Still, in the end, generalizing from any one event like this is probably useless; it does, however, give the invited guests a platform to expand and make vapid, stereotypical pronouncements-- and they certainly rose to the occasion this morning.

False Rape Accusations Have Racial Implications

What a disappointment! Was there intentional disinformation on this show-- I thought perhaps a program recorded several days ago and played now? Or maybe what I've read so far in the print media coverage has been retracted or just plain wrong.

According several recent newspaper articles (UT and NCT) the girl was a LATINA. Widely reported. That, and the guy she hooked up with is a LATINO, here in the country ILLEGALLY. Apparently they met through Mocospace.

None of this was mentioned in the show.

Lastly, I'm appalled at the insipid, stereotypical comments and lack of information by guest experts. A lot of idle, misinformed speculation, readily raising the race and racial victim cards. All without any substantive grounding with the facts of the case-- scary in a way.
