How about some positive fallout from the blackout?
Turning off the lights every second Thursday of the month. When the power shut off in San Diego and surrounding areas on Sept. 8, a few of us noticed a little something. Neighbors were out and about. Parks filled up. People talked to one another.
As it turns out, when TVs turn off, the community vibe takes off. Let's recreate that feeling and do something good for the environment while we're at it. Every second Thursday of the month, turn off the lights and head to the nearest park.
