Social Security benefits will go up by 3.6 percent in 2012 to modify for the cost of living. This will be the very first increase in Social Security benefits in 3 years. This comes as welcome news for retirees in the economic depression. But boosts in Medicare premiums will take up much of that boost for many seniors.
