How Many San Diego Buildings Don't Meet Earthquake Codes?

A few corrections to the termonoligy that was being used in this session as well as some unintentional misinformation. What they were talking about was satisfying a "City of San Diego Ordinance for Unreinforced Masonry Buildings." This ordinance in no way brings any of these older buildings up to any recent seismic building code as was being suggested. A complete retrofit would be required involving strengthening walls, strengthening foundations, and providing wall to roof ties at floors and roofs (not just at the roof level). Again, none of this seemed intentional, but they could have benifited from having a Structural Engineer in the round table.
