Excellent points were made; we cannot just throw a product / some money (aka solar panels) at the energy problem. It's much bigger than this, and as much as we all like simple black&white solutions, the best ones often are not. I would like to point out however that the formal, quantitative approach that Mr. Torre-Bueno and his father are pursuing may have a caveat - the human factor. Home owners and property managers may not always adhere to the assumptions of the mathematical model, and could thereby throw off the "ideal" solutions produced by Empowered's approach. Personally and professionally, I prefer a more human-centered approach that weighs in the occupants' schedule, habits, life-style and preferences. For more, see www.negawattconsult.com.
