SeaWorld Marks 50 Years In San Diego

Congrats, SeaWorld, on 50 years of continuing to enslave and encapsulate a giant and very social mammal in a tiny space. Such a proud legacy.

What California's Orca Bill Would Mean For San Diego's SeaWorld

By the way if you really want to suport Richard Bloom and the hopeful passage of this legislation go to his website and let him know!! I just did!

What California's Orca Bill Would Mean For San Diego's SeaWorld

I salute you Richard Bloom. Can you imagine living 80 years in a room the size of your bedroom and never being able to go beyond its borders? Would you not go completely mad too? Of course Sea World hides behind the excuse that their programs teach conservation and appreciation to a mass audience that would not otherwise have that exposure. This is a lame defense - these shows are pure entertainment (about 10% is educational at all) and for what these folks spend for entry, they can pay to go out on a boat and appreciate them in their wild habitat - not in a tank!!

Shelley Zimmerman Confirmed As First Female San Diego Police Chief

I cant imagine becoming the head cop (whether female or male) in an agency so rife with morale problems and sexual misconduct! I dont know anything about her but she must be one tough hombre to take on this job! I applaud the choice either way - hopefully she brings a fresh perspective to the force and helps to rid the dept of a few bad sexist apples.

Study: Bird Strikes Pose Serious Threat To Military Helicopters

As an Audobon member, I would be curious to know how they plan to 'mitigate the problem'....how do you mitigate natural behavior?
