Prison Crisis: Parole, Rehabilitation, Reentry

Nathan, thanks for reminding.
kevin, i too pay taxes and I agree that the people who are in-charge of the systems that are affecting people are in it for the power and the money. Are they educated? Not sure but to some point. My point of forgiveness was directed to you, no one else. You said some really ignorant statements about how people who are incarcerated should be treat like animals. People make mistakes, even though people view the systems as these bad evil corporations, which i agree they are, but there is always good when there is bad. It might be overruled by the bad, but there is good there. You just have to look for it. As far as the transcultural perspective goes, you dont understand it by the comments and the way you put the word "trans-cultural or trans-national" in your comment. Its a way of thinking and viewing and being in this world that is non-judgemental. Its just too bad that you feel the need to blame "people like me" for prison over-crowding, when neither of us know each other. have you talked with educators on what they do to engage students? do you know about ever school system and how it works and what some students face on their daily lives? do you have children? have you ever been in the foster care or criminal justice systems? Do you know inmates and what they go through with this states prison system? You are making some statements and I feel that you are just saying them because you have heard the stories and read the articles but dont have any actual connections to the people or the communities that you are insulting.

It is very sad that the cdcr is taking away programs that are helping the incarcerated and they are not seeing the rehabilitated and giving them the chance they have earned to be a productive member of this society.
To comment on "kevin", well your comment just goes to show that you dont know the meaning of forgiveness! People make bad choices everyday and those same people can and do learn from their mistakes. Havent you learned from any of your mistakes? I know you have made them. Not sure where you are from or what you do for a living, but I would with youth. And no, not all schools teach the youth how to be successful or how to be an adult for that matter. Where did you learn those skills? You should try thinking and viewing the world in a transcultural perspective. Everything isnt black and white like it seems that you think the world is. Rehabilitation programs do work! Prisoners do have rights, you should read the Title 15. All people have some rights in whatever position or situation they are in. I dont know about you and if you have pets, but I take damn good care of my pets and news flash, human beings are not pets!
