KPBS Strengthens News Service

I'm glad to hear that KPBS is expanding its news coverage past 7pm. I am also glad that Maureen Cavanaugh's program has been moved to noon. She needs all the time she can get to prepare for real news reporting. She is fine for features, but does not seem to have the wisdom to report real news. On May 2nd, after Osama bin Laden was killed by Navy SEALs, Ms. Cavanaugh chose to interview a local Imam instead of representatives from the Naval Special Forces units who train in our own backyard. Maybe the Muslim Community Center donates a lot of money to KPBS. Just a speculation. How else to explain KPBS's and Maureen Cavanaugh's one-sided coverage of Osama bin Laden's death.

I see there are no comments. Really? Or have you erased them all.

San Diegans React To Osama Bin Laden's Death

I was disgusted by the Imam from San Diego who complained on Maureen Cavanaugh's show "These Days" about how disrespectful the burial at sea was for Osama bin Laden. Please. Why didn't Ms Cavanaugh point out to this leader of the local Muslim community that the almost 3,000 people who died on September 11 were not only robbed of a respectful burial, they were robbed of their lives. Was the death of 17 people on the USS Cole respectful? How about the hundreds of people who died in the American embassy bombings in the East African cities of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya in 1998. Almost as enraging as this Imam's complaint was the compliant Ms. Cananaugh who didn't have the wit to point this out. Is KPBS funded by the Muslim community? It certainly won't ever be funded by me.
